Betsy Munce Martin

October 27, 1953 - November 14, 2022

On November 14, 2022, God took Betsy Martin’s, (69) hand and led her home to heaven. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving husband and sons.   

Born on October 27, 1953, Betsy was the youngest daughter of Carl and Dessie Vester Munce.  She was a proud honors graduate of McGuffey High School and Waynesburg College where she graduated with a degree in psychology. 

On September 13, 1975, she married the man who would love and cherish her for the next 47 years and the rest of his life, Lee Martin.  In addition, she is survived by her two sons, Carl Jason (CJ) and his wife Alisha (Ozelski) of Washington, PA, and Nicholas Lee and his wife Andrea (DiRuscio) of Severna Park, MD; her sister, Dessie Munce of Waynesburg, PA, and two half-sisters, Shirley Booker of Maryland, and Carol Simpson of Carnegie, PA.  Betsy was known as “Grammie” to her four grandchildren, Amelia (13), Shane (12), Elliott (9), and Sloane (6).

Betsy worked as a teller at the Canonsburg office of the Washington Federal Bank.  She was hired by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare where she worked for more than 20 years and later retired as an income maintenance administrator.

Betsy was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Martha V. Paul Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #404 in Washington, PA where she dedicated many hours supporting community service projects. She was an active member of Davidson United Methodist Church and was known by the congregation for her delicious peach pies.

Betsy adored her grandchildren more than anything and enjoyed spending time teaching them some of her favorite hobbies, including sewing, gardening, and baking.  She loved the beach and vacationed every summer in Sandbridge, VA with her family.

Friends will be received on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 18, 2022.  Interment will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, it was Betsy’s wish for donations to be made to Davidson United Methodist Church c/o Helen Proper 1263 E.
