Augustine S. "Gus" Fedis
Augustine S. “Gus” Fedis, 89 of Washington died peacefully Monday-April 26, 2021 surrounded by his entire loving family. He was born October 13, 1931 in Washington, PA the son of the late Andrew and Anna Kolaric Fedis. He attended Trinity High School and was part of the 1948 Trinity Football Team that went undefeated as W.P.I.A.L. Champions and eventually was inducted into the Washington-Greene County Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Fedis served in the United States Navy from 1950 until 1954 during the Korean War where he received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal before being honorably discharged. He then became employed as a machinist at Ball Glass where he worked for many years. Mr. Fedis then went to work at Glenshaw Glass from where he retired. He enjoyed woodworking, flower and vegetable gardening and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Mr. Fedis also enjoyed going to the ocean and was happy to help any member of his family that needed help with home improvement projects. Most of all, Mr. Fedis was a true family man that loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
On June 7, 1953 he married Jane Ward who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Robin (Kenneth) Gesuale of Pittsburgh and Terrie (Tim) Georgalas of Washington; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Ron Chemski) Gesuale, Michael (Diane Fisher) Gesuale, Amanda (Patrick) Elston, Matthew (Erin) Georgalas and Jules (Mike) Majer and six great grandchildren, Ash, Kylie, Kallie, Sophie, Francis and August. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Fedis was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and 10 sisters.
Friends will be received on Friday-April 30, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. the hour of a funeral service in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
