Victor D. “Vic” Patterson, 75 of Amity passed away peacefully on Tuesday-February 16, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was born March 27, 1945 in Morgantown, West Virginia the son of the late Archie Negleman and the late Ocie Bennett Patterson.  Mr. Patterson was a graduate of Trinity High School.  He then enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1964 until 1969 during the Vietnam War with the rank of Sergeant where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart before being honorably discharged.  Following his military service, Mr. Patterson worked as a coal miner at Marianna Mine for almost twenty years before taking a position as a federal mine inspector for M.S.H.A. where he was employed up until the time of his retirement.  Mr. Patterson was a life time member of the Anawanna Club.  He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed his fishing trips that he took to Canada.  Mr. Patterson also enjoyed the times spent with family especially those spent with his grandchildren.  Most important and dear to Vic’s heart, was the fact that he was a friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob.  At the time of his passing, Vic had been sober for 39 years.  He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

On November 1, 1965 he married Catherine N. Shriver who died January 23, 2018.  Surviving is a daughter, Cathy (Randy) Thornhill of Elkins, West Virginia; two sons, Dale (Jackie) Patterson of Mt. Morris, PA and Don (Crystal) Patterson of Amity, PA; three sisters, Cora and Martha of Sarasota, Florida and Maggie Pettit of Mt. Morris, PA.  Several grandchildren also survive. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by a brother, Danny.

Friends will be received on Friday-February 19, 2021 from 1 - 3 and 5 -7 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director.  A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday in the funeral home.  Facial coverings are required in the funeral home and COVID-19 state occupancy regulations will be adhered to.  Burial will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military rites accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 and the United States Army.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
