Paul “Paulie” Belcastro

Paul “Paulie” Belcastro 87, of Washington died Wednesday- August 31, 2016.  He was born October 13, 1928 in Washington the son of the late Biagio & Rosina Pisa Belcastro.  Mr. Belcastro was a member of the Christian Church of North America.  He was also a member of the Alpine Club #76, the V.F.W. and the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.  Mr. Belcastro enjoyed gardening, reading and sharing time with friends and family. 

He was a graduate of Trinity High School.  He served in the United States Navy from July 1946 until July 1948 receiving the World War II Victory Medal.  After returning from the Navy he attended and graduated from Washington & Jefferson College.  Post W&J Mr. Belcastro served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from July 1952 until December 1953 receiving the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  After returning from the Army Mr. Belcastro began his career as a Chemistry teacher at Centerville High School.  After several years of teaching, he changed professions and became an Accountant.  He worked for numerous companies including Westinghouse, R.C.A., Canon Plastics and Tac Tec. Mr. Belcastro obtained his Master’s degree from Duquesne University.  He later retired from the business world, ran for the Office Of Washington County Controller, won and served for many years as Washington County Controller until his retirement.  Mr. Belcastro served for many years on the Trinity Area School District Board of Education. 

On May 21, 1952 he married Elaine (Paluda) Belcastro who survives.  Also surviving are two sons; Barry (Cindy) Belcastro & Todd (Amy) Belcastro, two daughters; Lisa (Barton) Roper & Patti (Gene) Levi, grandchildren; Blake & Cassandra Roper, Alec & Aidan Belcastro & Madison Ingrao. 

Mr. Belcastro is the last of 15 children. 

Friends will be received on Friday- September 2, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday – September 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Rob Berk officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
